How You Can Volunteer

We often say that our volunteers are the fuel that runs the Granny’s House engine. Our weekly volunteers do everything from lead groups, clean, file income taxes, plant flowers, drive for field trips, run errands etc. Additionally, each semester we also get a fresh crop of volunteers from the University of Missouri Service Learning Department, resident physicians from Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and nursing student interns from the Sinclair School of Nursing. We have a very diverse team of kid-lovers who make for a beautiful mosaic of God’s heart for the children who cross our threshold each weekday afternoon.
We host mandatory two-hour volunteer orientation sessions for all first-time volunteers at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters and post that schedule on Facebook two weeks prior to each semester’s training. Additionally, prospective volunteer must complete an online background check form and submit personal references before they can begin volunteering at Granny’s House.
